Since 1995, George Contreras has been creating music after being heavily influenced by the likes of Slowdive, Starflyer 59, and My Bloody Valentine - since 1998, he's done so under the moniker, "The Lakeside Drive". In 2000, he recorded a 6-song EP onto cassette tape titled, "...And While Passing Through of What Were Once Called Stars" while being the lead guitarist in Southern California's power-pop outfit, Awkward.

After Awkward had disbanded, The Lakeside Drive made one public appearance in LA before Contreras stepped away from making and performing music. In 2011, he hoped to re-record his first EP which was done on his own, and was released with newer songs in 2016 on SoundCloud.

A year later, The Lakeside Drive have return with "Everything, Always", a new full-length album containing a few tracks from last years EP.
